The Nebraska Attorney General's Office, in partnership with the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition are working together to improve the criminal justice response to domestic violence and dating crimes.
The Team funded under the Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies Program and known as the "VAWA" Violence Against Women Act Coordinating Team have developed model policies and protocols relevant to rural areas, and will assist communities with planning and development of additional programming. In addition the VAWA Coordinating Team will assist communities with the collection of information and data that will inform them of their impact of their response on increasing victim safety and improving offender accountability.
The VAWA Coordinating Team will provide on-site technical assistance to rural communities, providing local and regional training programs, and assisting rural communities develop policies, protocols and programming that reflect the challenges of providing services to victims and holding domestic violence offenders accountable.
