How Can You Help?

There are many worthwhile organizations out there to help victims of domestic violence, likely several in your local area.  We strongly urge you to help these organizations through the donation of your time, money, or some of the items listed below.

Donate your time through volunteering

  • Work in a domestic violence program
  • Become an advocate for battered women
  • Help organize fund raising projects
  • Recognize the warning signs in children

    • Nervousness around adults
    • Aggression toward adults or other children
    • Inability to stay awake or to concentrate for extended periods
    • Sudden, dramatic changes in personality or activities
    • Unnatural interest in sex
    • Frequent or unexplained bruises or injuries
    • Low self-esteem
    • Poor hygiene

    Donate money: Every amount counts!

    $5 -- Could support the purchase of:
    A few needed supplies or food items
    A few needed supplies or food items for a needy family in a community
    A needed clothing item

    $10 -- Could support the purchase of:
    A blanket
    School items for a family
    A meal for a family
    Needed hygiene items for a family

    $15 -- Could support the purchase of:
    One day's electric bill for a shelter
    One week's local taxicab fare to/from work for a client without a car

    $20 -- Could support the purchase of:
    Curtains or blinds for one room in a shelter
    One set of twin sheets for a bed
