Inmate Litigation

The Inmate Litigation Section consists of 5 full-time attorneys who defend the State against civil lawsuits filed by inmates. Presently, there are over 150 active civil lawsuits on file by inmates.

These actions are filed under the State Tort Claims Act, the Federal Civil Rights Act, and the Administrative Procedures Act. Attorneys in the Inmate Litigation Section handle the suits from trial throughout any appellate court appeals.
