Hebron Man Sentenced to 25-30 Years

For Sexual Assault of a 13-year-old

(Lincoln, NE) Attorney General Jon Bruning today announced that Thomas Caudy, 21, of Hebron, was sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison for first degree sexual assault involving a 13-year-old Thayer County girl. The sentencing occurred yesterday in Thayer County District Court.

A Thayer County Sheriff’s Department investigation found Caudy sexually assaulted the girl while she was sleeping in her home. Caudy was living with the victim’s family while he worked for them. The assault occurred between Oct. 31 and Nov. 23, 2006. The victim is now 14 years old.

“Nothing will erase the nightmare this young girl lived through,” Bruning said. “Hopefully, she’ll be able to sleep better knowing Mr. Caudy is in prison, and he’ll be there for a long time.”

On June 14, Caudy pleaded no contest to first degree sexual assault, a class II felony.

Thayer County Attorney Daniel Werner and the Assistant Attorney General Randy Stoll handled the case.
