This
Internet Safety Brochure is designed to act as a guide for discussions between parents, teachers and children. The information is meant to challenge young adults to think before they log on.
- Never give out personal information that identifies and could lead a predator to you. This means your address or phone number, where your parents work, and where you go to school.
- Tell your parents about anything you find online that makes you upset or uncomfortable.
- Never agree to meet anyone in person that you have met online without telling your parents and getting their permission. They may be lying to you about who they are and how old they are.
- If you do have permission from your parents to meet an online friend in person, do this only in a public place and with your parents coming along.
- Do not respond to messages and bulletin board items that are sexually suggestive, belligerent, obscene, threatening, or that make you feel uncomfortable. Show these messages to your parents and have them send a copy to your Internet service provider.
- Never send pictures of yourself to anyone online, unless you tell your parents and get their permission.
- Some Internet sites are for adults only. If you come across these, leave immediately.
- Follow these rules or your Internet use must be restricted for your own safety.
